It's been some time now since the first time I thought about it. Since 2006, when I became an enterpreneur in Brazil, I could notice for several times that we were one step behind of the world. Even when we had a great, original idea, we'd launch it later. And as it's expected from us, the Y generation, I was to blame everything going on at my time, thinking that it'd be better if I was born twenty years earlier. Of course that's not true: the problem have always been bigger than that.
If you take a closer look to Brazil, and start to listen to 80's and 90's national rock music, or watch some TV shows, you'll eventually notice that it's always been the same: we're not different from our parents' generation. Huge prices for everything, extensive burocracy, public services as inefficient as it gets... That's our beloved country (as our anthem would tell).
The reason for all that is obvious: everyone here wants some change, as long it's a hundred percent for the best of themselves. People complain about traffic without ever thinking about leaving their cars at home; public expenses are way above the budget, but people's trying to join public service's - so that they won't need to work too hard and still get the better salaries in the country; and the list goes on and on... It's like everyone wants a whole new country, as long as it won't change anything on his/her life.
And that's the reason, as simple as that, that this is simply the wrong country for business. Of course, there are many good things here - otherwise I'd never be an enterpreneur, right?! But this blog is about the wrong part, with the ambicious intention of having some high level discussion on our country's situation. May this blog be read with very-good-mooded thoughts, otherwise it'll be a mess. Oh, and about the good part: that's up to you to find out. ;)
